René Jouveau

René Jouveau (* 1906 in Arles , † 1997 in Aix-en-Provence ) was a French writer, Romanist and Provençalist .

life and work

René Jouveau was the son of Marius Jouveau , a long-time chairman of the Félibrige . He became a grammar school teacher for Italian and, like his father, devoted his life to the service of Provençal. From 1943 he was Majoral (Academician) of Félibrige, from 1971 to 1982 Capoulié (Chairman). In 1974 he received the Grand Prix littéraire de Provence. He was a member of numerous academies and the Legion of Honor (1982).

Jouveau wrote the story of Félibrige in four volumes.
