The Polstermarter in the Erlangen district of Kosbach is a historical wayside shrine . The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation lists them under monument number D-5-62-000-1001.

Location

The Polstermarter is located directly in front of the property at Am Deckersweiher 26 , the eponymous Gasthaus Polster.

description

The upholstery marter was made of gray and medium- coarse Rhätsandstein. It has simple volutes , shallow niches and a ball attachment with an iron cross. The base shows heavily weathered reliefs that can no longer be interpreted. The four representations in the aedicula show a crucifix , the Trinity , St. George without a horse and the Ascension of Christ .

history

Nothing is known about the reason for the erection of the wayside shrine, which presumably dates from the 17th or 18th century. In the years 2001 to 2003, several wayside shrines were renovated on the initiative of the Erlangen local history and history association (Kosbach working group) and the Kosbacher Stad'l association, including the upholstered furniture. This was infested with algae and penetrating water caused fear of frost splitting. They were supplemented with a new base and damaged material replaced. In addition, a new ball with a cross was placed on the aedicule.
