history

The place was first mentioned in 1348 as "Kospach". The meaning of the place name remains unclear. The bishopric of Bamberg was the feudal lord . At that time the place consisted of 22 farmsteads with fields of 11 manses and 1 fiefdom (= 11 14 hubs ). The Truchseß zu Nainsdorf received income, the Bamberg caste office Herzogenaurach received taxes and grain taxes. In 1387, 11 valid persons were recorded in “Cosbach” in the interest register of the Bamberg Dompropstei. According to the dompropstischen Urbar of 1468 they had to "Coßbach" manorial claims 16 Hofstätten with 11 1 / 4 Huben fields, so it was the whole place in the hands of Dompropstei. The place burned down in the Thirty Years War . The Bamberg Center Office in Herzogenaurach held the high court until at least 1730. According to the land register of the Dompropsteiamt Büchenbach from 1747, the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Oberamt Baiersdorf exercised the high court. There were 17 subject families at that time.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 13 properties in Kosbach (3 hubs , 4 courtyards, 1 three-quarter hatch, 1 quarter hoof, 2 little houses, 1 shepherd's house, 1 hunter's house). The high court exercised the Bamberg cathedral provost office Büchenbach to a limited extent. If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Bamberg center in Herzogenaurach . The Dompropsteiamt Büchenbach held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties.

In 1810 Kosbach came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the place was assigned to the Büchenbach tax district formed in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818) the rural community Kosbach was formed, to which the places Alterlangen , Häusling and Steudach belonged. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subordinate to the Herzogenaurach Regional Court and in financial administration to the Erlangen Rent Office . On October 1, 1847, the municipality was assigned to the Herzogenaurach Rent Office . From 1862 Kosbach was administered by the district office of Höchstadt an der Aisch (renamed the district of Höchstadt an der Aisch in 1938 ) and continued to be administered by the Rent Office Herzogenaurach (1920–1929: Finanzamt Herzogenaurach , from 1929: Finanzamt Erlangen ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Herzogenaurach until 1879, 1880–1959 district court of Herzogenaurach , from 1959 district court of Erlangen . The community originally had an area of 9.240 km². On April 1, 1920, Alterlangen was incorporated into the city of Erlangen. This reduced the area to 5,891 km².

On March 15, 1964, the Catholic St. Joseph's Chapel was inaugurated after eight years of construction. On January 1, 1967, the community of Kosbach was incorporated into Erlangen. After the incorporation, the place experienced a brisk influx.
