Beneficial marter
The Vorteilelmarter is a historical wayside shrine in the Kosbach district of Erlangen . The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation lists them under monument number D-5-62-000-1003.
Location
The wayside shrine is located in a green area at the intersection of Am Deckersweiher / Hegenigstrasse .
Description and history
The Nutzelmarter is one of the most elaborately designed wayside shrines. The shaft decorated with vine tendrils is designed as a Corinthian column . The four representations in the aedicule show various saints and the crucifixion scene . On the base there are reliefs of Christ on the scourge column , Mary with the child , God the Father and a figure seated on crossed palm branches .
The wayside shrine is named after Georg Vorteilel, whose name can be read as "Gorg Nizel" on the aedicule. The Nutzelmarter also shows the year 1803, but shows all in all baroque forms, as they are typical for the late 17th century. In fact, the date 1682 , which is no longer legible today and is written in Roman numerals , was actually on it . In the years 2001 to 2003, several wayside shrines were renovated on the initiative of the Erlangen Heritage and History Association (Kosbach working group) and the Kosbacher Stad'l Association , including the Vorteilelmarter.
