Neumühle (colloquially: di naimül ) is a district of the independent city of Erlangen in Middle Franconia .

geography

The Neumühle is located on an island in the Regnitz north of Bruck and on the Bimbach, which flows into the Regnitz as a left tributary. In the north is the water meadows area .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1337 as "Newenmül". At this time, the Bamberg Center Office Herzogenaurach exercised the high court . The landlord was the Bamberg cathedral provost office in Büchenbach . The mill was pledged to the Nuremberg patrician Konrad Groß , who was then the bailiff of the cathedral provost office. In 1348 it was noted that the mill was destroyed by a flood of the Regnitz. Around 1405 the construction of a flood-protected mill was approved. During the First Margrave War , the mill was burned down, as can be seen from a document from 1457 in which the Dompropsteiamt concludes a contract with Hans Bruckner to rebuild the mill. In 1458 it was built as a saw and grinding mill. In the 16th century, the Bamberg claim to high jurisdiction was disputed by the Brandenburg-Kulmbach Oberamt Baiersdorf . Around 1535 the sawmill was demolished and a fulling mill was built in its place . Below the grain mill, which also existed at that time, a new sawmill was built on Nuremberg land. The mill fell into disrepair during the Thirty Years' War . After 1653 it was rebuilt by Hans Müller. In 1747 "NeüMühl" consisted of a mill with six grinding courses and one tanning tunnel, a cutting mill with an annex, two barns, two wells, pigsties, two weirs and a lifting bridge over the oxbow lake. The high court exercised the Baiersdorf Oberamt.

In 1810 Neumühle came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict, it was assigned to the Büchenbach tax district formed in 1811 . It belonged to the rural community of Büchenbach, founded in 1818 .

In 1835 the mill had seven gears, two cutting saws and was also used as a tinder mill. In 1879 the mill was stopped. In 1881 a wood pulp and cardboard factory was built in its place. From 1890 to 1899 the property was used as a glass cutting shop, and in 1900 a bronze paint factory was set up. On August 1, 1923 Neumühle was incorporated into the city of Erlangen with Büchenbach. In 1929 an aluminum works (Cesiwid) was built on the Mühlanger. In 1938 the company fell victim to the de-Jewry and was sold to a company in Rupprechtstegen . On April 15, 1945, the mill burned down completely after being shelled by the US Army . In 1952 the site was sold and used by various companies for storage purposes until 1997.
