Steudach (colloquially: Schdait or Schdaidi ) is part of the municipality of the city of Erlangen in Middle Franconia .

geography

The church village is located on the Rittersbach , a right tributary of the Bimbach , which feeds the Kastenweiher east of the village . The place is immediately surrounded by arable land and grassland. In the southwest the field is called Schleifwegäcker , in the southeast Lampeläcker and in the northwest Trutenäcker . A little further to the southwest is the monastery forest .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1348 as "Steudech". The place name is based on the Ahd. Word stūda (perennial, bush, thorn bush) with the collective suffix -ahi appended and thus referred to an area that was overgrown with bushes. The bishopric of Bamberg was the feudal lord . In 1384 the Nuremberg patrician Leupold bought Schürstab from Friedrich v. Laufamholz, among others, the bailiwick of eight farms in "Steudach". In 1463 Hieronymus and Niklas Schürstab sold their claims in Steudach to Wilhelm Kolberg . In 1468, 7 34 Huben fields belonged to the place , which were distributed over 13 properties, as can be seen from the land register of the Bamberg Dompropstei. In 1528 as in 1570, the manorial claims over the eight Steudacher estates were still in the hands of the spoon wood. In theöffelholz'schen Salbuch of 1570 their circumference was given as 3 34 strokes. The Dompropstischen land register of 1580 recorded in addition to the 8 spoon wood property, 8 cathedral provost properties. The extent of the lands was the same as in 1468. In the following period - probably after the Thirty Years War - the fiefdoms all fell back to the Dompropsteiamt Büchenbach. There were 4 whole courtyards, which in 1747 were broken up into 3 half courtyards, 2 three eighth courtyards, 7 quarter courtyards and 1 eighth courtyard.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 13 properties in Steudach (2 Huben , 7 Viertelhuben, 1 Halbhof, 2 Dreiachtelhöfe). The high court exercised the Bamberg cathedral provost office Büchenbach to a limited extent. If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Bamberg center in Herzogenaurach . The Dompropsteiamt Büchenbach held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties.

In 1810 Steudach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict, it was assigned to the Büchenbach tax district formed in 1811 . It belonged to the rural community Kosbach founded in 1818 .

On October 7, 1923, the St. Michael Memorial Chapel was inaugurated in Steudach. In April 1976 it had to be broken off because of its dilapidation. A house was built as early as 1973, which still serves as a church and a fire station to this day. On January 1, 1967, Steudach was incorporated into Erlangen as part of the Kosbach community. In the period that followed, a new housing estate was built next to the old town.
