Memorial in memory of the soldiers of the Erlangen Brigade from 1945 to 1991

The Röthelheimpark is a district in the east of Erlangen , bounded by Kurt-Schumacher-Straße and the adjoining Sebalder Reichswald in the east, Artilleriestraße in the north, the grounds of the Friedrich-Alexander University (Biologikum, Physikum) in the south and Hartmannstraße in the West.

The Röthelheimpark is mostly located on the site of the former Ferris Barracks of the US Army . This and the neighboring Sebalder Reichswald as Bannwald previously prevented an expansion of the urban area in an easterly direction. The withdrawal of the American troops created the exceptional urban development situation for the city of Erlangen, the ability to rebuild an entire district close to the city center. In addition to the designation of the Exerzierplatz nature reserve in the south of Röthelheim Park, residential, mixed and commercial areas were created that were particularly characterized by the settlement of Siemens Medical Solutions . New urban development model projects with innovative forms of construction and living in a privately organized, cross-generational structure are also to be implemented there.
The name is derived from the Röthelheimgraben, which borders the area to the south and was determined in a reader survey by the Erlanger Nachrichten .
