Anthony Michael Mortimer (born October 21, 1970 ) was a member and main songwriter of the British boy group East 17 , with whom he had seven top 5 singles and four hit albums between 1992 and 1997 . He was completely devoted to songwriting when the band broke up in 1997.

In the meantime, Mortimer played in the band Subzero, which he founded with the Scottish singer Jinky JJ Gilmour (ex- The Silencers ) and two other friends. Only one album was recorded and the members decided this project was inappropriate and broke up the band. Gilmour went on as a less than successful solo artist.

In 1998, the former East 17 band members reunited for a short time without him and released two singles under the name E17. However, they separated again in 1999.

Mortimer has worked as a producer in his Essex studio since 1997 .

In 2010 it was announced that East 17 would work together again, but without Brian Harvey .

On June 16, 2013, Mortimer's first solo album, Songs from the Suitcase , was released via FOD Records . The first single was called Shake It Down and received excellent reviews. A promotional tour through Great Britain and Germany followed. The duet Rain in England with Julian Lennon was released on September 1, 2013.
