background

Stay Another Day was the third single from the album Steam , East 17's second album, and the first ballad that the band released. Tony Mortimer , the group's main songwriter, dealt with the suicide of his brother Ollie in the song. He was assisted in the composition by his co-manager Rob Kean and the songwriter Dominic Hawken. The arrangement of the song contains bells at the end, with which a conscious attempt was made to appeal to the lucrative Christmas single market.

Video

Two music videos were shot for the song: One video consists of recordings of the band members singing the song in a studio, the other shows the band in white, furry parkas and black leather jackets against a black background. A woman in a dress and veil also appears while it is snowing. The latter video is usually shown around Christmas, while the first version is shown outside of the Christmas season.
