René Laloux
René Laloux (born July 13, 1929 in Paris , † March 14, 2004 in Angoulême ) was a French director and painter .
Laloux is best known for a series of fantastic cartoons that he created in collaboration with some top-class artists. These include Roland Topor , Jean 'Moebius' Giraud , Isaac Asimov and Stefan Wul . He made his first film with patients in a psychiatric clinic in which he was working at the time. His films, especially “ Rulers of Time ” (orig. “Les Maîtres du temps”) and “Der phantastische Planet” (orig. “ La Planète sauvage ”), are now considered cult films. With the latter, he won a special prize at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1973 .
