Renée Sándor

Renée Sándor (born July 8, 1899 in Budapest , † August 29, 1977 there ) was a Hungarian pianist .

Life

Sándor's brothers were the pianist Árpád Sándor and the violinist and conductor Frigyes Sándor . She studied at the Budapest Music Academy with Ernst von Dohnányi and Sándor Kovács . In 1922 she went to Germany with her brother Árpád. She performed chamber music with Vilmos Tátrai and his quartet. She played u. a. Mendelssohn and Bartók as well as the baroque and Viennese masters. Together with Elsa Schiller , she premiered Dohnányi's cadence for WA Mozart's Piano Concerto in E flat major for two pianos in Budapest in 1920 . She taught at the Goldmark Music School until 1945, and from 1949 at the Béla Bartók Conservatory. From 1951 to 1954 she was a lecturer at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. In 1969 she was awarded the Liszt Prize.
