Renate Bauwe

Renate Bauwe (* 1941 in Merseburg ; also Renate Bauwe-Radna ) is a German Mongolist .

Life

Renate Bauwe studied Mongolian and Sinology in East Berlin and Ulaanbaatar in the 1960s . She then taught Mongolian language and literature for three decades at the Asian and African Studies section of the Humboldt University in Berlin. During this time she traveled frequently to Mongolia as an interpreter and translator of Mongolian literature as part of her academic work . Since she had to give up teaching as a result of the restructuring of her university and her subject at the end of the 1990s, she has worked as a freelance reviewer - primarily in the field of Mongolian language and literature.

  • Renate Bauwe-Radna (Ed.): Explorations. 20 Mongolian stories. (East) Berlin 1976. The first volume of prose published in German from modern Mongolian literature with stories from 1929 to 1972. It also includes all the important Mongolian storytellers of the first two generations after 1921.
  • Sengiin Erdene : Sun cranes (stories). (East) Berlin 1979 (translation: Renate Bauwe). The first volume of short stories by the most translated Mongolian prose author in German.
