Renate Preuss , née Schmidt (born September 10, 1947 in Pausitz near Riesa ) is a German librarian and writer .

Life

Renate Preuss graduated from high school in 1966 and acquired a skilled worker certificate as a laboratory assistant. After working as a veterinary clerk for 13 years, she was the head of the hospital library in Riesa from 1981 to 2007. She received her special training as a patient librarian at the Dresden Medical Academy. Since 1987 she has been writing autobiographical prose; after the political change in 1989 she was able to publish her texts. A reading trip to Munich in 1990 and an article in Münchner Merkur enabled her to get started as an author. Preuss is married and has three sons.
