Laguna Seca 100 mile race in 1981
The 1981 Laguna Seca 100 mile race , also known as the Datsun Monterey Tripple Crown (Camel GT), Laguna Seca Raceway , took place on May 3 of this year at the Laguna Seca Raceway . The race was the sixth round of the IMSA GTP series in 1981 .
The race
The race in Laguna Sec was already the sixth race of the newly created IMSA-GTP series . The entire race was a three-way battle for victory between the two Britons Brian Redman and John Fitzpatrick and the American John Paul junior . Pole setter Fitzpatrick had to settle for third place in the Porsche 935K3 / 80 . Victory went to Redman in a Lola T600 ahead of John Paul, who drove a Porsche 935 JLP-3.
