Portland 45-Minute Race 1981
The 1981 Portland 45-Minute Race , also GI Joe's Datsun Grand Prix (Camel GTU), Portland International Raceway , took place on August 2nd of this year at Portland International Raceway . The race was the 16th round of the IMSA GTP series in 1981 and only counted towards the GTU class.
The race
For the fifth time in the season, a sprint race took place as part of an IMSA championship run , which only counted in the GTU class and lasted 45 minutes. Once again, the two Mazda RX-7 pilots Lee Mueller and Walt Bohren fought a duel for victory, which this time Mueller won with a nine-second lead over his team-mate Bohren.
