Lime Rock 200 Mile Race 1981

The 1981 Lime Rock 200 mile race , also known as Coca-Cola 400 (Camel GT), Lime Rock Park , took place on May 24 of this year at Lime Rock Park . The race was the ninth round of the IMSA GTP series in 1981 .

The race

Brian Redman , who has already celebrated two victories this season, came to the race in Lime Rock as overall leader of the championship. The 45-minute race , which only counted towards the GTU rating, took place in the preliminary program . Walt Bohren remained victorious there in the Mazda RX-7 .

The 200 mile race turned into a one-sided solo ride by Redman. The lead over Ted Field and Bobby Rahal , who took turns at the wheel of a Porsche 935K3 / 80 , was four laps at the finish.
