Diego Febles

Diego Febles (born September 15, 1929 in Cuatro Caminos , San José de las Lajas , Cuba ; † December 18, 2011 ) was a Puerto Rican racing car driver and racing team owner.

Career

Diego Febles was born in Cuba and left the island for political reasons in 1957 under the Batista dictatorship , first went to Ecuador and later settled in Puerto Rico. He contested his first car race in 1957 as a Cuban, his greatest success as a Puerto Rican. In 1977 he finished second overall in the Sebring 12-hour race and third in the Daytona 24-hour race in 1978 . The two appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans ended prematurely after failures.
