1981 Pocono 500 mile race
The 1981 Pocono 500-mile race , also The World Comes To Pocono, Kenwood Stereo 500 Grand Prix (Camel GT), Pocono International Raceway , took place on September 27th of this year at the Pocono Raceway . The race was the 21st round of the IMSA GTP series in 1981 .
The race
The race in Pocono was one of the six endurance races of the season that could not be contested by solo drivers. After almost four hours of driving, John Paul and his son won in a Porsche 935 JLP-3 . Brit Brian Redman , who crossed the finish line second overall with Ralph Kent-Cooke, secured the drivers' title of the IMSA GTP series of this year one race before the end of the season .
