Roger Mandeville
Roger Mandeville (born September 22, 1941 in Spartanburg ) is a former American automobile racing driver .
Career in motorsport
Roger Mandeville belonged alongside Jim Downing of the pioneers of the Mazda - Wankel engine -Rennsports at the North American sports car racing in the 1980s. During this time he almost exclusively competed with racing versions of the Mazda RX-7 . Mandeville took six overall wins and finished 17 sports car races as class winner.
His first race was the 1971 Virginia 300 Mile Race , which was part of that year's IMSA GT series . He celebrated his first victory in the 1981 6-hour race at Daytona , a race in the 1981 World Sports Car Championship . His last win and his last race was also held at Daytona International Speedway ; In 1986 he won the IMSA GTU race there and in 2006 he was eliminated from the Daytona 24-hour race .
