The 1981 Road Atlanta 150-mile race , also Road Atlanta GT II (Camel GTU Race), Road Atlanta , took place on September 13 of this year on the Road Atlanta circuit. The race was the 20th round of the IMSA GTP series in 1981 .

The race

The 150-mile race was the fourth race to be held on the Road Atlanta circuit this year. Two of these races only count towards the GTU rating. In April there was the 100 mile race won by John Fitzpatrick on a Porsche 935K3 / 80 . In the 150 mile race, Brian Redman remained successful in the Lola T600 . The Brit was clearly superior to the competition and had a lead of more than one lap over the rest of the field at the finish.
