Sears Point 100 Mile Race 1981
The 1981 Sears Point 100 Mile Race , also known as the Datsun Camel GT, Sears Point International Raceway, Sonoma , took place on July 26th of that year at Sonoma Raceway . The race was the 14th round of the IMSA GTP series in 1981 .
The race
As part of the IMSA-GTP series , two sprint races took place on the same day at Sonoma Raceway. The GTU class race lasted 45 minutes and ended with the success of Wayne Baker in a Porsche 914/4 . In the GTX and GTO class races, Klaus Ludwig in the Ford Mustang Turbo and Brian Redman in the Lola T600 fought a duel over the entire distance, which Ludwig won with a lead of almost 3 seconds.
