Tico Almeida is a retired American racing car driver .

Racing career

Tico Almeida was active in US sports car racing in the 1970s and 1980s . After his first outings in the Sebring 12-hour race , he started regularly in the IMSA GTP series from 1981 . After finishing 12th in the GTO class in 1981, he finished third in the GTO class in 1982 . He achieved his best individual placements at the Daytona 24-hour race . In 1982 he finished this 24-hour race alongside Ernesto Soto and Rene Rodriguez in the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR in fifth place in the overall standings. In 1983 he finished seventh with Soto and Miguel Morejon .
