Gotthard von Starhemberg (* before 1474; † September 12, 1493 in Linz ) was captain of the state above the Enns .

Gotthard von Starhemberg was the fourth born son of Ulrich the Elder of Starhemberg and his wife Dorothea von Hohenberg. After completing his studies in Vienna, he took part in the liberation of Hörschlag Castle in 1474 under Reinprecht V von Walsee .

In 1475 he married Katharina von Scherffenberg , the daughter of Bernhard von Scherffenberg and Elisabeth von Fladnitz. However, the marriage remained childless. After the death of his wife in 1480 he married Countess Barbara von Ortenburg , who gave birth to a daughter Anna.

Von Starhemberg succeeded his brother Ulrich von Starhemberg as governor of the Enns in 1486 and held the office until 1493 to everyone's satisfaction. In the war against Matthias Corvinus he exercised the office of field captain. In 1490 he moved against the Tettauer Schanze occupied by the Hungarians , which he took after a five-week siege.

Von Starhemberg died in Linz in 1493 and was buried in St. Florian Monastery, where an epitaph with an inscription commemorates him.
