Markgraf Heinrich II of Baden-Hachberg. (* Before 1231; † around 1297 / 1298 ) was from 1231 to 1289 ruling Margrave of Baden-Hachberg .

Life

Heinrich was the eldest son of Margrave Heinrich I of Baden-Hachberg and Agnes von Urach , a daughter of Count Egino IV of Urach . In 1231 he succeeded his father - under the tutelage of his mother - and was the first of the line to assume the title of "Margrave of Hachberg". In 1232 it was possible to acquire the rule of Sausenburg from the monastery of Sankt Blasien . Soon after the purchase, the Sausenburg was built, which was already documented in 1246. He quarreled with the ecclesiastical powers of his area and the Counts of Freiburg because of complex legal and property relationships and after 1250 took part in the dispute over the Staufer and imperial estates in order to complete his territorial rule. For years he supported Count Rudolf von Habsburg against the bishops of Basel and Strasbourg and in 1273 was also a support for his kingdom. Among other things, he helped him against the Baden line and in the war against Bohemia in the battle of Dürnkrut . He was a patron of the Tennenbach and Adelhausen monasteries . Heinrich abdicated in 1293 to become a German knight .
