Rudolf I von Hachberg-Sausenberg († 1313 ) was Margrave of Baden-Hachberg and the founder of the Baden branch of the Margraves of Hachberg-Sausenberg .

Life

In 1306 Rudolf founded the Hachberg-Sausenberg sideline on the Sausenburg, which was built in 1240 by the Margraves of Hachberg , while his brother Heinrich called Heinrich III. von Hachberg continued the main line, the seat of which was on the stronghold near Emmendingen . Rudolf appears in documents from 1309 and 1314 as Landgrave in Breisgau. Because of this office, his rule Sausenberg was also named Landgraviate.

In 1311 his wife, Agnes von Rötteln, inherited after the death of her nephew Walther III. von Rötteln half of the rule of Rötteln and Rudolf was appointed co-regent by his brother-in-law, Lüthold II von Rötteln . This connection laid the foundation for the rise of the Hachberg-Sausenberg family. Since Rudolf died before Lüthold, the rule of Rötteln was transferred to Rudolf's son Heinrich in 1315, who came of age that year.

family

Rudolf was the son of Margrave Heinrich II von Hachberg and Anna von Üsenberg . In 1298/1299 he married the heiress, Agnes, of Otto von Rötteln, with whom he had the following children:
