Johann IV of Starhemberg

Johann IV von Starhemberg (* 1412 ; † 1474 ) was captain of the state above the Enns in 1460 .

Johann IV von Starhemberg was the second-born son of Kaspar I von Starhemberg and his second wife Agnes von Polheim and was born in 1412.

In 1436 he moved with Duke Friedrich, who later became Emperor Friedrich III. and other nobles to Jerusalem to visit the holy tomb. The names and coats of arms of the fellow travelers were immortalized in the princely hall in Trieste .

In 1449 he married Mrs. von Töring for the first time, with whom he fathered a son and a daughter. After her death around 1454 or 1455 he married Elisabeth von Puchheim . But this marriage remained childless. When she died, he married Agnes Elisabeth von Hohenberg for the third time in 1460. With her he begat seven sons and six daughters.

Johann von Starhemberg was a respected nobleman and around 1460 also held the office of governor of Upper Austria. He died in 1474 at the age of 62. A portrait with an inscription dedicated to him can be found in Eferding Castle .
