Renault Gordini
Renault Gordini was a rally or motor sports vehicle from the vehicle manufacturer Renault . Since 2010 some Renault vehicles have been marketed as sporty Gordini special models.
history
In 1957, Usine Amédée Gordini received an order from Renault to develop a rally car based on the Renault Dauphine . In 1969 the tuning company was incorporated into the Renault company. In 1975 the company “Usine Amédée Gordini” from Viry-Châtillon officially became the Renault Sport department, now Renault Sport Technologies (RST). Gordini brought in his extensive experience in the course of Renault's motorsport activities and worked alongside Renault's Formula 1 project at the start of the “ Le Mans 24 Hours ”, which Renault won in 1978 with the Alpine A442 .
Models from 1958 to 1977
The following Renault models were available in a sports version, which were revised by the car tuner Gordini:
- Renault Dauphine Gordini (1958–1963; 1965–1968)
- Renault Caravelle Gordini (1960-1965)
- Renault 8 Gordini (1965-1970)
- Renault 12 Gordini (1971–1974)
- Renault 17 Gordini (1974-1977)
The Renault 17 was temporarily sold in the United States under the name Renault Gordini Coupé Convertible . The equipment corresponded to the special requirements of the US market with modified headlights and bumpers. It was powered by a 4-cylinder in-line engine with 1647 cm³ displacement and 95 SAE hp.
Models since 2010
Renault has been offering Gordini models again since 2010. These were developed by the in-house sports forge Renault Sport Technologies (RST) and have the typical Gordini appearance with blue paintwork and white double stripes. The following models were available:
- Renault Twingo Gordini RS (2010-2013)
- Renault Clio Gordini RS (2010-2012)
- Renault Wind Gordini (2011-2013)
