Les Rencontres de la Photographie d'Arles are an integral part of the cultural calendar of the southern French city ​​of Arles . The photo exhibitions have taken place annually since 1969 in the summer weeks from July to August in the historic buildings of the city of Arles or in buildings in the immediate vicinity and show works by internationally renowned artists and creators. In summer 2012 74,000 visitors were counted in 60 solo exhibitions. According to art , the festival is one of the most famous and important in the world. The program is diverse and ranges from fashion to documentary exhibitions. The highlight of the festival is the presentation of the “Rencontres d'Arles Award”. The 46th meeting of the “Les Rencontres de la Photographie” took place from July 6th to September 20th, 2015.

In 2016, 100,000 visitors were expected and the renovated building in Parc d'Ateliers by Luma Arles was also opened as an exhibition space.
