The Resava ( Serbian - Cyrillic Ресава ) is a river in central Serbia . It flows through the towns of Despotovac and Svilajnac in the Pomoravlje district and flows into the Morava after 65 kilometers at the latter .
The historical region there , an important monastery , the Resava school , the REMBAS coal mines and the Resava cave are named after the river.
Run
The Resava rises on the Beljanica mountain in the Homolje Mountains east of Despotovac. Not far below its source are popular destinations such as the Veliki buk waterfall and the Resava cave . Before it reaches the first city, the Resava flows through a gorge up to 400 meters deep for about 25 kilometers. Shortly before Despotovac is the Manasija monastery on its bank , where Stefan Lazarević is buried. The REMBAS coalfield is located in the river valley between Despotovac and Svilajnac .
The region named after the river is divided into two parts: While Gornja Resava ("Upper Resava") is hilly to mountainous and more forested, Donja Resava ("Lower Resava") is already one of the foothills of the Pannonian Plain and is becoming intense used for agriculture. The catchment area of the Resava covers 685 km².
