The Resolution Head is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It is located west of Cape North on the northeast bank of Church Bay and is one of the breeding areas of the golden crested penguin and the black- browed albatross .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2009. It is named after the HMS Resolution , one of the ships on the second South Seas voyage (1772–1775) of the British navigator James Cook .
