Joseph Klapper

Joseph Klapper (born May 11, 1880 in Habelschwerdt ; † September 17, 1967 in Erfurt ) was a German philologist and folklorist from his Silesian homeland.

Life

He was teacher (from 1906), then senior teacher (from 1926) for German and new languages at the Breslau Bender Oberrealschule. In 1929 he became an adjunct professor for Latin Philology of the Middle Ages at the University of Breslau . After the war and expulsion he was senior director of the Theo-Neubauer-Oberschule in Erfurt from 1945 until his retirement in 1950 . From 1955, at the age of 75, he taught as an adjunct professor of Latin philology, palaeography and religious folklore at the Philosophical-Theological Studies in the Erfurt regional seminary . His main scientific interest was the cultural and religious history of Silesia, to which he contributed important monographs. In total, he published over a hundred titles.
