Restatement of the law

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In United States law , restatements of the law are the treatises published by the American Law Institute , which systematically present the case law of the individual states. They do not have the rank of a real source of law and their rank in the courts roughly corresponds to the more important textbooks. The restatements have been published since 1923 and each refer to an important sub-area, for example in the early years agency , conflict of laws , contract law , judgments , property , restitution , security , torts and trusts . From the beginning of the 1950s, this was mostly brought up to date and published in an expanded form as restatement (second) or restatement (third) .
