Rescue Medal (Iceland)

The Rescue Medal was donated by President Sveinn Björnsson on October 9, 1950 .

It can be awarded to anyone who has saved the life of an Icelandic person at their own risk.

On the obverse, the medal awarded in two classes ( gold and silver ) shows the mountain queen with the inscription afreksmerki hins islenzka lydveldis (Iceland's rescue medal ). The Icelandic national coat of arms can be seen on the back.

The medal is worn on an ultramarine blue ribbon on the left chest.
