Reumer
Reumer is a Swiss family name . He is making his first documentary appearance in central Switzerland . This happened in 1515 in the canton of Schwyz , in the area known as March .
The Reumer were recorded for the first time as Swiss citizens in the municipality of Reichenburg .
Spellings and origins
Originally the name appears as " Roemer " and " Roümer ". In the 17th century , entries with the spelling "Reumer" increased. A century later, entries with the spelling " Römer " were created in the same municipality .
The historical registers include the following entries:
"Of the court disciples from Reichenburg, who moved to Marignano with the Schwyz in 1515 , Ulin Reumer never returned." (Ulin Reumer was a federal mercenary who fought in the Battle of Marignano .)
"Hans Ulrich Reumer in Reichenburg and his brothers Meinrad and Martin and also Anton Reumer allhie in the March were recognized as country people by the Ammann and two-time district administrators and pay 15 kroner, which is imposed on them because of the costs incurred." (Land law book of March, Pentecost 1635)
