The Rhein-Neckar-Stadion is a football stadium in Mannheim .

The stadium is the venue for VfR Mannheim ( Verbandsliga Baden , 2015/16). The Rhein-Neckar-Stadion is located on the Theodor-Heuss-Anlage in the Oststadt district right next to the Carl-Benz-Stadion , the venue of SV Waldhof Mannheim . The Rhein-Neckar-Stadion was inaugurated on December 9, 1971, is purely a football stadium and offers 8,000 spectators (2,000 of which are seats, 1,000 of which are covered). The stadium has floodlights . Today's Rhein-Neckar-Stadion is not to be confused with the old Mannheim stadium , which became the Rhein-Neckar-Stadion in 1963was renamed and that stood on the site of today's Carl Benz stadium until the early 1990s .
