The Rheinisch-Westfälische Genossenschaftsverband e. V. (RWGV) was a regional cooperative association in Germany. His area of ​​responsibility extended over the entire state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the northern part of Rhineland-Palatinate . Around 700 cooperatives were recently united in the RWGV . On April 26, 2017, its members decided to merge with the cooperative association in Frankfurt to form the cooperative association - Association of Regions .

history

The RWGV association was formed in 2002 from the merger of the Westfälischer Genossenschaftsverband e. V. (WGV) and the Genossenschaftsverband Rheinland e. V. (GVR). Its roots go back to the year 1862, when the “Association of Credit Cooperatives of Rhineland, Westphalia, Lippe and Waldeck” was founded. In the year of its merger, RWGV had 450 employees at locations in Düsseldorf , Münster , Rösrath- Forsbach (Rheinisch-Westfälische Genossenschaftsakademie) and Koblenz .

At the end of 2015, the association comprised 182 Volks- and Raiffeisenbanken, special cooperative institutions and cooperative companies from the financial sector in a different legal form with total assets of 288.1 billion euros. There were also 160 agricultural companies with a total turnover of 23 billion euros. The members also included 361 service and trade cooperatives with a total turnover of 12.4 billion euros. The cooperatives of the three divisions in RWGV had around 3.3 million members in 2015 and employ around 74,000 people.
