Rhine sirens

The Rheinsirenen , founded in 2000 in Cologne, are a German ladies ' salon orchestra or a German ladies' band based in Bonn. The ensemble combines the characteristics of a classic salon orchestra with those of a jazz band by means of arrangements tailored to this line-up.

The ensemble plays in the cast:

  • Verena Wittmann: violin / vocals
  • Melanie Werner: clarinets / saxophone
  • Barbara Lechner: guitar / banjo / vocals
  • Gabi Jüttner: drums
  • Dorrit Bauerecker: piano / accordion / vocals
  • Antje Haury: double bass

The musicians are graduates from the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden , Folkwang University of the Arts , University of Music Freiburg , University of Music and Performing Arts Graz , University of Music, Theater and Media Hanover and University of Music and Dance Cologne and next active as soloists, chamber and orchestra musicians with the Rheinsirenen. Since its inception, the ensemble has been giving concerts in the entire German-speaking region, including at the Mittelrhein Musikfest (2011), the Tatort Eifel together with Andrea Sawatzki , at the open air on Cologne's Roncalli-Platz (2014) and regularly at Aalto -Theater Essen as well as at the Oberstdorf Music Summer. In addition to various moderated concert programs, the repertoire includes swing and sound film titles from the first half of the 20th century, hits from the 1950s and 1960s , classical salon music, and dance and film music from all eras.
