Rhipsalis russellii is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis russellii grows epiphytically or epilithically with upright to hanging shoots that are in dense clusters. The strongly flattened dark green shoots have protruding veins. They are up to 15 inches long and 5 to 6 inches wide. Their edges are reddish purple, notched and lobed. The areoles are whitish.

The cream-colored flowers appearing to the side stand individually or in groups of up to nine per areole, are up to 2 millimeters long and reach a diameter of 7 millimeters. The spherical fruits are orange to slightly purple in color.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rhipsalis russellii is common in the Brazilian states of Bahia , Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo . The first description was published in 1923 by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose .

Rhipsalis russellii is in the endangered Red List species the IUCN as " Vulnerable (VU) ", d. H. endangered, classified.
