Rho theta

Rho-Theta is a term used in navigation for a group of positioning methods that are based on the measurement of polar coordinates (direction and distance to a radio beacon ).

The term is made up of the names of two Greek letters:

If the direction and distance to a fixed point are measured, the position of the location results from its geographical coordinates by applying the first main geodetic task . In flight navigation, for example, VOR / TACAN belongs to this group of procedures, in long-distance navigation the (now technically obsolete) NavaRho .
