Rhode Island Sound

The Rhode Island Sound is a body of water on the coast of the US state of Rhode Island at the mouth of Narragansett Bay .
The transition to the open sea of the Atlantic Ocean lies on the line between the two islands of Block Island and Martha's Vineyard . The Block Island Sound connects to the west and the Long Island Sound further west . Vineyard Sound is east of Rhode Island Sound and Buzzards Bay to the northeast .
