Rhyodacite

Rhyodacite is an extrusive volcanic rock that mediates in its composition between dacite and rhyolite . As a rock solidified on the surface of the earth, it is the equivalent of granodiorite .

An aphanitic to glassy matrix of light to medium color typically contains crystals of sodium- rich plagioclase , sanidine , quartz and biotite or hornblende . Rhyodacite is a rock rich in silicates and is often found in pyroclastic volcanic deposits.

use

Rhyodacites are rarely used as decorative stone, as they can hardly be extracted in the form of larger raw blocks and are often very small-scale.
