Ribanna (also Ribana ) is a rare female given name .

origin

In Karl May's works , Ribanna is a chief daughter of the Assineboins tribe . It is mentioned in the early adventure stories Old Firehand (1875) and In the Far West (1879) as well as in the later compilation Winnetou II (1893). She is the only woman Winnetou has ever shown interest in. It is not known whether the name was actually used by Indians .

The first name is very rare. In Germany, more than 12 girls got it after 1970, in Austria at least 4.

The company Wilhelm Benger sons used from 1911 Ribana as a brand name for a new product segment of ribbed knitwear.
