Ricardo Pérez is a former Mexican soccer player who played for Chivas Guadalajara between 1975 and 1986 and was also known by the nickname "Snoopy".

Career

Ricardo Pérez was a real Chiva all his life. As a child he played in their youth teams and was never inclined to switch to another club: “I have been a Chiva since I was a child. That means everything to me. I played in the first team for nine years and never thought of quitting. If I had the strength, I would have played for Guadalajara all my life. "

Pérez played mostly on the left wing and was active either in attacking midfield or in the attack line. Because of his agility, his speed, his ingenious step-overs and his excellent assists, "Snoopy" Pérez was one of the most important players in Guadalajara in the early 1980s and a crowd favorite. His numerous assists contributed significantly to the accuracy of his storm colleagues Víctor Rangel , Eduardo de la Torre and Jaime Pajarito . Pajarito scored a total of 24 goals in the 1980/81 season, in which the decisive submission in 17 cases came from Pérez. In the 1982/83 season Pérez was even the most successful goalscorer of his team with 12 goals.

When he began his professional career at Guadalajara, the club was just going through a ten-year period of weakness, which in Mexico was called " Chivas flacas " (lean goats). In the 1980s things went better again, but the team with Pérez was only runner-up in 1983 and 1984. Ironically, in the first season of 1986/87 "after Pérez", a title (the first since 1970) was finally won again. Thus, Snoopy Pérez remained untitled throughout his life.

His national team career was not much more enjoyable. He was called up to an international match only once: on April 29, 1980 in Toluca against Guatemala (2-2), where he was used in the unfamiliar position of right winger.
