Rich Richter (born February 4, 1937 in Magdeburg ) is a German post-war fashion photographer . Together with other artists, he founded the Savigny Drei group in 1974 at Savignyplatz in Berlin-Charlottenburg , where he still lives and works today.

Life

After studying at the Berlin University of the Arts (1965/66), Rich began his career in the fields of fashion, beauty and advertising photography. Celebrities such as the opera singer Bella Jasper , the actor Curd Jürgens , the jazz pianist Erroll Garner and the singer Nina Simone have had them portrayed by him.

Richter was one of the leading photographers of the Haute Couture Defilees in Rome . In the 1970s and 1980s he worked for Valentino , Rocco Barocco, Pino Lancetti , Renato Balestra, Fausto Sarli and Mattiolo.

From 1980 Richter photographed the major prêt-à-porter shows in Milan . For many years he worked with the jeans manufacturer LEVI'S. Rich published his photographs in Madame , Burda International , Lady and other fashion magazines. In 1989 Rich received the “European Fashion Medal” in silver for his work as a fashion photographer. In addition to his commissioned work, Rich also photographed flower arrangements and weathered advertising spaces.

Exhibitions

Since 1974, Rich has shown his photographs in galleries such as the European Academy Berlin, the Kunstforum Düsseldorf, the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin , the Art Library Berlin, the Fuji Gallery in Zurich and the El Temple and Bennassar galleries in Palma de Mallorca. Rich's photographs are in numerous private collections.
