Heinrich Reich (born April 6, 1888 in Munich ; † August 9, 1961 ) was a German doctor , painter and musician .

Life

Reich completed a medical training at the universities of Strasbourg , Göttingen and Munich . He published his dissertation and other medical articles in medical journals. He lived in Asia for eight years and the Asian mentality influenced him. He was fascinated by everything related to the imagery of the soul .

Working as an X-ray specialist no longer satisfied him. He moved to Munich in 1945 and worked as a writer and painter. He painted Paracelsus, women in Bali and various abstract birth pictures.

Abstract painting

Reich was interested in non-representational painting and whether people would recognize the same thing in abstract pictures. Based on the Rorschach test , from 1945 he experimented with symbolic images, which he produced using the watercolor technique. He wanted to find out whether others would recognize the symbols as representing a sensation. He initially looked for test subjects among artists who tested and evaluated his double-sided 30 × 40 painted panels. The test subjects not only recognized the symbols, but were - according to Goethe - “touched inside”. By choosing the cards that were interpreted as likeable or unsympathetic, problems in life and inhibitions could be identified. This is how the TU-ANIMA test came about, a test that psychologists became aware of. Reich published the testimonials and his own experiences in the book Seelenbilder . In the foreword of this book he referred to the ten-year existence of the TU-ANIMA test.

Reich was one of the founders of the Aalen Cosmobiological Academy
