Richard Rado Prize

The Richard Rado Prize , named after the German mathematician Richard Rado , is a science award for outstanding dissertations in discrete mathematics . It has been awarded every two years since 1998 by the Discrete Mathematics section of the German Mathematicians Association . The prize money of 1000 euros is donated by Springer-Verlag from Heidelberg.

The public nomination of the award winner and the award ceremony usually take place during the Discrete Mathematics Symposium . The award winner is invited to this symposium to present his dissertation in a lecture.

requirements

  • Only the supervisors of the dissertations are entitled to submit proposals. Self-applications are excluded.
  • There is no group jury; a single foreign mathematician who is highly respected among experts decides.
  • Only doctoral theses that have been successfully completed in the two-year period prior to the award ceremony are eligible. It must be about a subject of discrete mathematics.
  • It is mandatory to submit two copies of the dissertation, an abstract and an opinion from the supervisor in English. Everything together must be handed over to one of the board members of the Discrete Mathematics specialist group on time.
