Richard Benkin

Richard Benkin is an American human rights activist , co-founder of Interfaith Strength , journalist , writer and lecturer .

Benkin was working on his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan and wrote the dissertation The Social and Cultural Development of Jewish Communities in Eastern Europe on Jews in Eastern Europe.

Benkin campaigned for the freedom of Bangladeshi journalist Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury after he was imprisoned for writing articles warning of the rise of Islamic radicals. Choudhury was released in 2004.
