Richard Gress
Richard Gress (born December 2, 1970 ) is a German documentary filmmaker from Dingolshausen .
Gress originally trained as an automotive painter.
In 2007 he won the Bavarian TV Prize for his documentary about the Surma people in Ethiopia .
In addition, his films about his experiences in Africa were featured in the 2013 VOX documentary “Extreme Travelers - When People Cross All Borders”. The extreme travelers Roland Garve and Sarah Fischer from Munich were also presented in the documentation.
The wilderness and I
On November 24, 2013, Kabel eins ran the adventure documentary series “The Wilderness and Me - Richard Gress in Africa”, in which the adventurer went to Africa equipped with a camera to take part in the life of the local peoples and foreign cultures and get to know customs.

On January 13, 2015, the second season started with four episodes under the name "The Wilderness and Me - The Adventures of Richard Gress". Richard Gress is accompanied by a cameraman on his travels to the most remote areas of the world. His stations are in Botswana , Sumatra , Brazil and Papua New Guinea . Richard Gress visited each of the countries with a specific goal: Botswana to hunt with the local tribes, Sumatra to see a rare Sumatran tiger, Brazil to find a jaguar, and Papua New Guinea to get a scar tattoo to get stung.
