Richard L. Nolan

Richard L. Nolan (born April 28, 1940 ) has been Professor of Management and Organization at the University of Washington Michael G. Foster School of Business in Seattle since 2003 . From 1991 to 2003 he was a professor at Harvard .

Richard Nolan is known for many publications on IT and management. In his stage theory , he categorized the development of information technology in companies (more than 10 years before the Capability Maturity Model ). He has published several papers with F. Warren McFarlan .

Richard Nolan was the founder (1977) and until 1991 chairman of the IT consulting firm Nolan Norton & Company (bought by KPMG in 1987, taken over by Atos Origin in 2002 ). Richard Nolan has served on the Novell Board of Directors since 1998 .
