life and career

Parker was born in May 1943 to George Parker, 8th Earl of Macclesfield (1914-1992) and Valerie Mansfield (1918-1995). He has a younger brother David. Parker attended Stowe School in Buckingham and studied at Worcester College of the University of Oxford . There he graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts .

In 2002, Parker attempted a court order from the High Court of Justice to gain lifelong residence in Shirburn Castle . This wish was opposed by members of his family, including his brother, uncle and nephew, who were shareholders in the property's property management company. Since they were interested in a commercial use of the property, they refused to grant this right of residence. Parker has been charged with "wrongfully taking possession" of the facility after his mother's death in 1994. Parker lost the trial, preceded by a series of family disputes that began in the mid-1980s between the castle's owners and ended with that verdict.

Membership in the House of Lords

When his father died in December 1992, he inherited the title of Earl of Macclesfield and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . There he sat as a crossbencher . He first took his seat on April 28, 1993. He gave his inaugural speech on May 19, 1993. He last spoke there on May 19, 1999 on the subject of conductive education. Through the House of Lords Act 1999 he lost his seat. He did not run for one of the remaining seats. He is not listed in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.
